Gave us another moment of great hope as he cruised to the front at Meydan last night. But no more than a fleeting moment of excitement. Post race tests on him have revealed an issue that can be addressed. And will be addressed. Nothing very dramatic. But certainly a contributory factor that goes a long way to explaining why Bill has appeared to flatten out through the final furlong of his last two races.....
He does travel through his races like a serious horse, and he has shown that he is a "serious horse" on numerous occasions. We will sit down and make a plan for him. Probably no more than 4 races through the rest of the year. Running him fresh. Heading abroad, because he thrives on travelling and has the perfect demeanour for him. Which is a great asset......
From the excitement of Meydan. To the great excitement of Andoversford. TLNCK's base. His "5 To Follow" competition. I had a fine start. Drifted back through the field. But am cruising back into contention, sitting just off the pace. Just out of the placings. What excitement !!! I shall be following the TLNCK's entries very closely over the next few weeks, and having a very strong opinion about where my "5" are entered to run......
Dinner at The Wheatsheaf at stake. Paid for by TLNCK. I have checked out the wine list. Alluring. And reassuringly expensive......
I hope to see some of my "5" running in sellers and claimers.....
Darts last night. We came second. By a very long way. "Tailed off from an early stage. Hard ridden but found nil for pressure. Stayed on for poor second. One to avoid......"
An interesting angle on the whip issue from the Racing Post's editor Bruce Millington in yesterday's paper. Everybody entitled to an opinion. However interesting it may be......
What did Bruce think of AP's ride at Leicester yesterday ?? I am sure he will let us know....
