Studley Park Golf Club in Oxfordshire yesterday throwing up some "Open-esque" weather. Howling gales, black skies, drenching showers, a proper mix - more Turnberry on a fresh Scottish morn than suburban middle England....
I was there for our sponsors BBT Financial Services' annual Golf Day. BBT also sponsor Tour Professionals Paul Broadhurst and Robert Rock and it was a privilege to be able to play a round with the pair of them - by that, I mean that for the two holes that they joined our group, I played all around them. They, not unsurprisingly, kept to the short stuff whilst I tackled terrain the like of which I had not encountered since my time in Vietnam.
Both Paul and Robert heading north for the Scottish Open and then The Open. I very much hope that they will not have learnt a great deal from my scything of the Oxfordshire undergrowth...
Tattersalls in Newmarket and then Southwell tonight is my agenda for today.
