Independence Day......
Being beaten is never fun. Being beaten when the cards have not quite fallen in your favour is galling. Being beaten in a seller on an average card at lowly Warwick in front of a paltry crowd is not the end of the world. I was gutted when Highland Storm and Matthew did not quite get up to win - but this was Warwick on a Friday. How on earth did Guy Harwood cope when Dancing Brave's fastest ever Epsom final furlong was not quite enough....?? We were "unlucky" yesterday - but I am more than happy to store up the good luck for the bigger days and the bigger stages.....
A bigger stage today. The return of Excellerator. A big day for us. She will come on for this seasonal debut at Haydock - but it is exciting to have her back. We have had to be patient as have her team of Owners. I hope the weeks ahead will repay that patience....
And Iguacu in the Lady Riders Fergentri race at Nottingham. The riders chosen by ballot. The possibility of being saddled with "Miss Smorgensbord-platter-mackerel features" from Stockholm - we ended up with Nadine Gratz from Germany. No Basil Fawlty jokes.....
