To Chadlington last night for a Grand National preview evening for The Heythrop Hunt and their supporters. A decent crowd in The Tite Inn to hear the expert words of Syndicate manager Tom Gittins, Trainer Charlie Longsden and Kim Bailey's right hand man Matt - and the inane witterings of yours truly.....
My conclusion is that Mouse Morris' Hear The Echo has all the ingredients of a classic Irish "plot" and that he will be vying for favouritism come start time on Saturday ....
Some exciting news for Team Baker. I am able to announce that Kieran Fallon has accepted an offer to ride all of our Flat horses through the allweather season next Winter. He apparently feels that, whilst he has ridden the winners of most of the great global horseraces, he has not experienced enough of the relentless excitement of the Winter programme at home....
And so whilst many of his colleagues will be basking in Dubai and preparing for the opening of Meydan, Kieran will be targetting great contests such as "The Downtown Dunstall Park Refrigerator and Gas appliance Claimer"....
A great coup for Team Baker - and my head is already in the programme book formulating some enterprising targets for all of our horses rated 45 and below.....
Is Kieran Fallon related to Kieren Fallon by any chance?!
