Wolverhampton fast becoming one of our most prolific tracks. Winner number 35, and the 13th of 2009, yesterday as Smokey Rye turned her race into a procession. She is definitely on a steep upward curve and we are hoping to match the "Black Type" acquired by her close relative Smokey Ryder at some stage....
James Hamer claimed this filly at the end of December with a view to winning a couple and moving her on at a profit - with three wins this year, I think he is entitled to feel that he has got that job done. He was never in for the long run and stated as much very clearly at the outset. Yesterday's win was the last time that she runs in his colours - she is now part of the "home team", and I am looking for an Owner to keep her in the yard.
Patrick and I are convinced that she can continue to improve on turf - and her next tentative target is a Fillies Handicap at Yarmouth in about a fortnight. £8000 and she is yours.......!!!
Gratifying to receive a few emails from people who backed her and are following my advice to support Tess and Waz in their London Marathon efforts (www.justgiving.com/lambournrunners)
A quiet rest of the week in terms of runners - but a glorious paperwork day ahead getting the monthly invoices sorted and into the postbox....
And Aintree at the end of the week to look forward to. Our only entry a tentative one with Shut The Bar in Saturday's Bumper - but C and I racing on Friday and Saturday anyway, and staying on Friday night with an Owner who has a runner in the big race. Should be exciting....
I have been stopped and asked on the Racecourse a number of times recently about syndication opportunities here - and the simple answer is that we do cater to all budgets. I am very keen on ALL-IN arrangements as I know from experience that one of the most terrifying aspects of Racehorse ownership is the endless list of added expenses over an above the daily training fee rate. With a capped figure, at least one is aware of the downside from the outset....
An involvement in a syndicate starts at £25 per week. If anybody is interested, email me and we can then have a chat. Go on - spoil yourself, and buck that annoying "credit crunch" thing......!!!
Where is this new website then?!
