A weekend that began badly (very badly) on Friday night at Wolverhampton. False Modesty's Owners had been extremely patient through the year, and were understandably excited to see her finally hit the track.
She had worked well at Wolverhampton the previous Friday and was ready for this debut. But having broken well, she dropped quickly to the rear of the field and Chris Catlin pulled her up. Unfortunately she suffered a major fracture of the pelvis and is no longer with us.
No other runners over the weekend - and the chance to watch some spectacular action from Wetherby and Sandown on the TV. It would be nice if we were able to go to the Grade 1 tracks more often - we will keep persevering......
A decent gathering of Timeform Betfair Racing Club members with us this morning (Sunday) to watch their horse, Confederate, gallop under Andrew Tinkler. Fantastic for us to be involved with the wise heads from Timeform (Simon Walker, Kieran Packman and Jim McGrath heading up today's delegation), and we are looking forward to this horse's debut for us, hopefully at Wolverhampton a week tomorrow.
A knowledgeable team - and there are shares available in the Club horses which are trained by us, Richard Fahey, Jeremy Noseda and Nicky Vaughan.
A frosty morning (frosty enough to scupper Warwick's card) - and luckily the gateways were frozen as I marched our guests out across the fields to the gallops, thus saving all their footwear from complete ruin......
Three runners tomorrow - Maddy and Grand Court at Lingfield, and Alderbed at Wolverhampton. All heading down the drive with each-way squeaks, I hope......
Hello George,
Was not able to get to the open day today due to my location and your location (and the fact I have no transport). Maybe another time.
I won a year's free membership to the Racing Club via a competition on Timeform Radio.
I look forward to getting involved as things get off the ground and maybe meeting you and some of the other members at the races one day. Good luck with the runners tomorrow.
